New York announced that they are controlling a blockchain health certificate app with IBM. This shows the proof of Covid-19 vaccination or negative test results. The tool, which is named Excelsior Pass, checks the vaccine and testing information via confidential data transfer.

The app can help the re-opening of venues and businesses. Like an airline boarding pass, the pass provides travelers with a QR code that checks their health status.

With the help of blockchain technology, the companies are trying to develop Covid-19 health certificates. Like most health certificate applications, the data is shared between a health worker and an individual. The blockchain comes in between to prove that it was directly provided by the healthcare personnel and is original. This process is known as a verifiable credential.

New York Governor told that Excelsior Pass will play an important role in passing the information to venues and sites in a secured way. The process will allow us to reach one step closer to a new normal.

Several airlines are also testing these health initiatives.

The state is expecting to make the most of the Excelsior pass.
